From Idea to Page: How a HeartBlossom Story Grows

Every HeartBlossom story starts as a seed.
Not the kind you plant in soil, the kind that shows up when you least expect it.

Sometimes it’s a conversation with my kids in the car.
Sometimes it’s a quiet moment in the kitchen after bedtime.
Sometimes it’s a question that won’t leave me alone.

From there, the seed begins to grow.

I scribble notes in the margins of grocery lists.
I test out lines while stirring pasta.
I carry the idea like a small stone in my pocket, turning it over to see how it feels in my hand.

When it’s ready, I sit down and start to write.
Not perfectly. Not quickly. But honestly.

Every HeartBlossom book follows three quiet rules:

  1. Truth before tidy endings – Because life doesn’t always wrap up neatly.

  2. Comfort you can hold – A rock, a sprout, a star: each story carries a small symbol of hope.

  3. Room for the reader – Our books don’t talk at you. They sit beside you.

By the time a book is printed, it’s been held by so many hands: mine, my illustrator’s, my editor’s, sometimes my kids’, each adding their own care.

It’s a slow process. And I love it that way.

Because just like growth, a good story can’t be rushed.

With love,
